Box Score WACO, Texas – Sophomore pitcher Micaela Bouvier and the Northwestern State defense danced around North Texas runners for the majority of Friday morning's contest, but the Mean Green eventually pulled away en route to a 9-5 Lady Demons' loss.

North Texas (3-3) stranded eight runners in scoring position through the first five innings as it built a 3-1 lead, but the Mean Green plated six runs in the final two innings in the opening game of Baylor's Getterman Classic.

NSU will play host and No. 21 Baylor today at 3 p.m.

After the Mean Green scored twice in the sixth inning to lead 5-1, Bouvier drove in junior Kellye Kincannon to keep NSU within striking distance at 5-2 heading into the final inning.

But North Texas' Kelli Schkade hit a grand slam in the seventh inning to pull away from NSU.

The Lady Demons loaded the bases with no outs in the final inning, and sophomore Hailee Rhodes (hit by pitch) and junior Brittney Jones (walk) recorded RBIs.

Bouvier (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) produced a two-out RBI to slice North Texas' lead to 9-5, but North Texas pitcher Jessica Elder (2-1) got out of the jam to secure the win.

Bouvier (3-1) allowed nine runs (eight earned) on 13 hits as she took her first loss of the season. The NSU defense committed three errors behind Bouvier.

Kincannon recorded two doubles in a 2-for-4 effort – her fifth multi-hit game this season.

For North Texas, Schkade (four RBIs) and Bailey Thompson each had three hits.
