NATCHITOCHES – Shutting out Southland Conference newcomer Incarnate Word 7-0, the Northwestern State tennis team picked up its eighth win in a row to remain undefeated at home Saturday afternoon at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.
The Lady Demons (10-3 overall, 3-0 SLC) also remained perfect in conference play as the Cardinals (2-8, 0-2) dropped their eighth match overall and second in a row.
"We're really pleased with our win-streak right now, and with today's performance," said head coach
Patric DuBois. "Tomorrow's match will be a really competitive one after we defeated Texas A&M – Corpus Christi in the finals of the conference tournament last season."
The Lady Demons host the Islanders on Sunday at 11:00 before hitting the road to Abilene Christian on Friday.

NSU picked up the doubles point with ease, taking all three slots in succession.
Polina Konop and
Tatiana Larina claimed the No. 1 slot while
Natalya Krutova and
Kateryna Piatakova took second doubles, both with scores of 8-1.
Aliona Ladutska and
Daniela Simonova defeated Taryn Strahl and Kelsey Reblin 8-3 to pick up the No. 3 position.
In singles, Simonova, Krutova and Piatakova sealed the win with 6-0, 6-0 marks at the sixth, third and fifth slots, respectively. Ladutska finished next, defeating Andi Botha 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5, followed by Larina taking second singles, also 6-1, 6-1.
Konop battled at first singles, taking the first game 6-1 and dropping the second 6-3, but claimed the win in the tiebreaker 10-8.
Friday's match at Abilene Christian is a make-up after the weather forced the contest to be postponed earlier this season. The Lady Demons will take the remainder of the weekend off before hosting Stephen F. Austin March 29 at 11:00.
