LAFAYETTE – Northwestern State freshmen Polina Ivanova and Emily Kerr rolled to a convincing 8-2 doubles win Friday to highlight their day one participation in the Ragin' Cajun Fall Women's Invitational tennis tournament hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette.

Ivanova/Kerr defeated the Nicholls tandem of Katia Jordan and Katya Nakonechnaya in Flight 2 doubles first round action.

Ivanova took a tough loss in Flight 2 singles, dropping a 10-8 pro set in a first-round Flight 3 singles match with UNO's Hafsa Laraibi after they split sets, Laraibi winning the opener 6-2 and Ivanova bouncing back to force the pro set with a 6-1 second set triumph.

Ivanova responded with a 6-4, 6-2 win in the second round of Flight 3 over Alex Kitchen of Southern Mississippi.

Kerr fell in her two singles matches in Flight 4. Nicholls' Jordan was a 6-1, 6-1 winner in the opening round and UNO's Yasmine Rashad posted a 6-0, 6-2 second round decision over Kerr.

The tournament concludes Saturday at UL-Lafayette's Cajun Courts.
