Lady Demons reschedule game with Lamar for Tuesday

9/23/2013 4:07:00 PM

NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State women's soccer team will make up Friday night's game against Lamar that was rained out on Tuesday at 7 o'clock in the Lady Demon Soccer Complex.

Admission into Tuesday's match will be free.

Despite the 1-0 NSU lead Friday evening, the Lady Demons (2-6-0, 0-1-0 Southland Conference) and LU (3-5-0, 0-1-0 SLC) will have to restart the match. The game was called due to lightening in the area with just over 10 minutes left in the first half, and after field conditions worsened officials decided to reschedule.

Both teams opened league play on Sunday with losses; NSU lost to 2012 conference champion Stephen F. Austin 2-0, and Lamar lost to Oral Roberts 3-0.

Kimmy Albeno, who has 11 points on the season with five goals and one assist, leads Lamar.  Jennifer Yacuta follows with nine points, and Jannet Hernandez has eight.

Newcomers Brooke Eastburg and Johnna Sigvardsson lead Northwestern State offensively with four points each.  Eastburg has two goals while Sigvardsson has one goal and two assists.

On Friday at 7:00, the Lady Demons will travel to Houston Baptist before returning home for a five-game home stand that starts with Central Arkansas on Sunday 1 o'clock in the Lady Demon Soccer Complex.
