HAMMOND – A season-best outing by
Lawrence Jackson and a new personal record for
Janae Allen highlighted the Northwestern State track and field teams' performances at Southeastern Louisiana's Lion Invitational on Friday at the Southeastern Track and Field Complex.
Allen continued her standout season on Friday as she registered a personal best mark of 174-11 in the hammer throw for a third place finish. The senior also placed second in the discus, throwing for 153-04.
Jackson improved on his season-best 800m time by over five seconds, winning the race in 1:53.73. The sophomore also anchored the second place 4x400 team of
Jarrod Charles,
Keenan Jackson and
Austin McCauslin that finished in 3:17.35.
Jerrica Tillery,
Shakemia Johnson and
Constance Seibles earned top-three finishes as well, placing third in the high jump (5-02.25), discus (149-08) and 200m dash (24.65), respectively.
Emmanuel Williams placed second in the long jump after recording a leap of 23-11.50.
Rechelle Bessard threw for 142-00 in the discus,
Jessica Talley put up a mark of 140-08 in the javelin and the women's 4x100 relay squad of
Angelica Kotun,
Ebony Vaughn, Seibles and
Kenyah McDaniel crossed the finish line in 47.54 as all three finished fourth in their respective events.
Fourth place finishers for the Demon squad include triple jumper
Zhaquan Porter (43-09.25), high jumper
Quinton Helaire (6-04.75) and 3000m runner Jeremy Elliot (9:20.11).
Select members of the NSU track and field teams will travel to Baton Rouge tomorrow to compete in LSU's annual Alumni Gold meet.
