HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Northwestern State Lady Demon softball team played through one inning of the Southern Mississippi tournament before it was suspended due to rain. The Lady Demons will resume the game in the top of the second on Sunday afternoon.

NSU (8-2) currently leads over the Golden Eagles 4-3 as freshman Natalie Landry rocked her first ever grand slam and home run to left center with two outs in the top of the first inning.

Mississippi Southern's Taylor Beck picked up her second home run of the season and two RBI in the bottom of the first to put the Golden Eagles on the board.

The Golden Eagles picked up another run off of an error by the Lady Demons before senior Brooke Boening struck out the final batter to end the inning.

Kylie Roos and Boening split the inning from the circle striking out two and allowing just one hit.

NSU will resume play on Saturday at noon as they take on Louisiana Tech for the first time this season.
