MONROE – Brittany Virgoe and Tara McKenney have been named to the ULM Mardi Gras Classic All-Tournament team as the Northwestern State Lady Demon softball team finished second in tournament play.

“This is exciting for us,” said head coach Donald Pickett. “Brittany and Tara deserved this after their performance this weekend.”

Virgoe stepped up to bat 12 times to knock-off seven hits and five RBI. She played a key role in the win over Southeast Missouri State Saturday evening as she notched five RBI off of a double and a two-run home run.

Virgoe also led against UC-Santa Barbara with two hits.

McKenney crossed the plate three times off of five hits on the weekend. She notched two RBI in the season opener against Mississippi Valley State.

Sunday's games against Wichita State and Grambling State were cancelled due to inclement weather.

The Lady Demons (2-1) are on the road to the Bulldog Battle at Mississippi State beginning on Friday when they face-off with Western Kentucky at two o'clock.
