Fayetteville, Ark. --  After a convincing win over Jackson State Monday night, Trudy Armstead and the Northwestern State women's basketball team will face the weather and travel to faceoff with Arkansas at 7 o'clock looking to gain the program's 700th win Saturday night.

Armstead led NSU (4-2) past JSU with 20 points, and averages 18.8 points per game this season.  Arkansas (9-0), who received votes in the USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll earlier this week, downed Kansas Wednesday night 64-53 in Lawrence

The Razorbacks are led in scoring by freshman Jessica Jackson (14.4 ppg) and in rebounding by Keira Peak (5.9 rpg).

"Arkansas is relatively young," said second-year co-head coach Brooke Stoehr. "It has some veterans who have been big for them, but a lot of its veterans haven't had game experience.  They start three freshmen, and those freshmen are very good for them.

"It'll be a tough test for us, but if we rebound and defend I think we can do some things offensively that could give their young kids some problems," she said.  "Hopefully we can execute and give ourselves a chance to win the game."

Northwestern State averages 67 points per game, and is shooting 40-percent from the field.

Both the Lady Demons and Razorbacks average 39 rebounds per game and less than 14 turnovers per contest.

Arkansas averages 75 points per game as a team and has outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points.  The Razorbacks have already faced two Southland Conference teams in Oral Roberts (UA won 91-33) and Sam Houston State (UA won 81-45).

One area that NSU has vastly improved from last year is in turnovers.  Already this season NSU averages five less turnovers than they did this time a year ago.

When these two programs met up in 2012-13, the Lady Demons gave up the ball 23 times on the way to an 80-41 loss.

One reason for the turnaround is play of sophomore guard Janelle Perez, who ranks 32nd in the nation in assist-turnover ratio.

The Lady Demons will return to the floor on Wednesday to face in-state rival Louisiana Tech at 6 o'clock.  They return to Prather Coliseum on Dec. 17 to host Arkansas-Monticello at 7 o'clock.
