Nedorostova picks up two wins for Lady Demons in spring opener

FT. MEYERS, Fla. – Northwestern State tennis senior captain Andrea Nedorostova grabbed two wins for the Lady Demons in NSU's first day of spring play on Saturday afternoon at the Florida Gulf Coast Eagle Invite.
 
Nedorostova teamed up with Tatiana Larina to take down FGCU's sister team of Sarah and Elizabeth Means 8-3 in the second flight of doubles play.
 
NSU's Polina Konop and Natalya Krutova fell to North Texas' Kseniya Bardabush and Franziska Sprinkmeyer 8-3 in the first flight and the Lady Demon team of Daniela Simonova and Vanja Bogetic dropped their match to UNT's Emelia Box and Agustina Valenzuela 8-0 in the third flight.
 
In singles play, Nedorostova overcame Liberty's Valerie Thong to win 7-5, 6-1 in the third flight.
 
“Andrea had a solid day playing at a high level in both singles and doubles,” said Lady Demon head coach Patric Dubois.
 
Iowa State's Ksenia Pronina defeated Konop 6-4, 7-6 (2) and North Texas' Bardabush took down Larina 6-3, 7-6 (1) in the first flight.
 
Krutova fought to three sets but eventually dropped her match to FGCU's Gyanna Mandic 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 in the second flight.
 
Liberty's Rebekah Jenkins picked up a win over Simonova in the fourth flight, outscoring the freshman 6-2, 6-3.
 
Newcomer Bogetic fell to Northern Florida's Melanie Aguire 6-0, 6-0.
 
“By and large, we all competed well,” said Dubois. “We did not have great results overall in the win column but I saw a lot of good things from every player which we will build on.”
 
The Lady Demons continue play at the Eagle Invite on Sunday.
