NATCHITOCHES – Lamar distance standout Sam Stabler and the Northwestern State Lady Demons sophomore sprint tandem of
Quiana Griffin and
Consuela Lindsay have been named the Outstanding Meet Performers in last weekend's 2012 Leon Johnson NSU Invitational track and field competition at the Walter P. Ledet Track Complex.
Lamar's Stabler swept the men's 1500 and 3000 crowns, erasing meet and complex records dating back to 1980 with his 8:53.36 time in the longer race. He won the 1500 in 3:54.16.
Griffin and Lindsay each won their individual events and were part of two winning relay teams for Northwestern, which had this weekend off and will resume action next weekend at Southeastern Louisiana and LSU.
Griffin captured the women's 400 meter dash in 55.39, a season's best. Lindsay ran away with the 400 meter hurdles crown (1:01.35). Each ran legs on the winning 4x100 meter relay (a 2012-best 46.58) and 4x400 relay (3:46.45) to lead the Lady Demons.
Selections were made by meet officials who considered only collegiate competitors.
Winners will be listed on signage at the Ledet Complex alongside last year's recipients, 2011 NSU seniors Mike Green and Trecey Rew Hoover.
