LAFAYETTE – Led by Southland Conference track and field Athlete of the Week winners Ashley Aldredge and Trey Hatton, Northwestern State joins host Louisiana-Lafayette and 13 other teams in the Louisiana Classics Track Meet Saturday.

Among the schools represented Saturday will be LSU, Mississippi State, Colgate, Southern, South Alabama and Southland Conference members McNeese, Nicholls and Southeastern Louisiana. Other in-state participants include Louisiana-Monroe, Xavier and Loyola-New Orleans.

Field events begin at 10 a.m with running starting at 1 at the Cajun Track Complex. The hammer and 10,000 meter runs were contested Friday.

Aldredge, a freshman who transferred from Texas A&M after competing at Cedar Creek High School in Ruston, posted the nation's No. 2 javelin throw on the opening weekend of the 2012 outdoor season. She threw 162-4 to win at McNeese's Cowboy Relays.

That was among 13 winning performances from NSU men and women at the meet, including three by Hatton, who took the 100 meter dash in 10.82 and was part of the Demons' winning 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams.
