MOBILE, Ala. – The Northwestern State women's basketball team will be back in action on Monday when it visits South Alabama at 7:05 to close out a two-game, four-day road swing of the state of Alabama.
The Lady Demons (1-2) are coming off a 78-52 loss to the University of Alabama on Friday night while South Alabama (2-1) defeated Central Florida 89-76 and has won two straight after dropping the season opener to Ole Miss by a 54-45 score.
Junior forward
Trudy Armstead will lead the Lady Demons into the contest with a team-high 15.7 scoring average while senior guard
Jordi James follows with a 12.7 per game mark. Armtead is tied with sophomore guard
Jasmine Bradley as the team leaders in rebounding with 6.3 averages.
As a team, NSU is averaging 70 points a contest and giving up 76 points a game. NSU is outrebounding its opponents by a 43-38 margin and is hitting 41 percent of its shots from the field but just knocking down 23 percent from 3-point range.
Camille Reynolds is the only Jaguar player scoring in double digits for the season at 16.7 ppg. USA is scoring 64 points a game and allowing just 58 a contest. They are making 33 percent of its shots from the field and 31 percent from 3-point range and are being outrebounded by a 53-41 margin.
USA is a perfect 2-0 in its home arena this season as NSU is 0-2 away from home.
Following Monday's game, the Lady Demons will return to action on Friday to face Loyola of New Orleans at 5:45 in the first game of a doubleheader with the NSU men's team.
