NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Senior
Lawana Perkins and junior
Mark Dotson are the top entries Monday for Northwestern State in the 2011 Southland Conference Cross Country Championships, featuring competitors from all 12 league members in women's and men's races.
The women's 6k race starts at 9 with the men's 8k following at 9:45 a.m. at the Piney Woods Country Club. The host Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks are aiming to repeat as champions while Lamar is shooting for its sixth straight men's title.
Perkins is the reigning Southland Conference female Athlete of the Week after winning her third individual title of the season nine days ago at the Demon Invitational, to go with first place finishes at the Mook 4 Invitational in Ruston and the NSU Invitational.
Dotson has been the first finisher for the NSU men all fall long.
Other contestants for the Demons should be

Travis Plumb,
Matt Rodell and
Nathanial McReynolds.
For the Lady Demons,
Ali Fontenot and
Aly Coughlin have battled for second and third on the NSU scorecard this season.

Becca Meehan have also been steady scorers.
