Box Score NATCHITOCHES -- After coming up with three turnovers and an onside kick recovery producing 20 points in last Saturday's 51-17 Homecoming win over Southeastern Louisiana, Northwestern State junior safety
Jamaal White has received national recognition.
The "Beyond College Sports Network" listed White among six FCS Defensive Players of the Week on its weekly honor roll.
White forced a fumble on the game's first play that was returned by teammate
Lamont Simmons for a 24-yard touchdown 15 seconds into action.
White recovered the subsequent onside kick on game's second play, giving the Demons possession for a drive than produced a field goal and a 10-0 lead less than two minutes into the game.
His first interception and return to the SLU 30 set up a field goal, and his second interception launched a 76-yard drive to a touchdown.
White also led the Demons with six tackles.
NSU (4-3 overall, 3-1 in the Southland Conference) is open this weekend and resumes play with a non-conference visit to Texas State Oct. 29. The next home game is also the next conference contest, a 3 p.m. matchup Nov. 5 with Central Arkansas at Turpin Stadium.
