NATCHITOCHES Theresa Halle, a senior midfielder for the Northwestern State Lady Demon soccer team, has been named to the 2012 Southland Conference All-Academic First Team, as voted on by coaches and Sports Information Directors throughout the conference.
Halle is a member of the Louisiana Scholars College and is majoring in biology with an emphasis on pre-dentistry with a 3.94 GPA. She is set to graduate in May of 2013.
She was the only Division I soccer athlete in Louisiana named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District VI Team. Nominees must have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA to make the College Sports Information Directors of America all-district ballot, which is voted upon by CoSIDA members throughout the district.
She received the Louisiana Scholars College Research Award every year since 2010, named to the NSU President's list from 2009-present, and the Dean's list in 2010 and 2011.
The Houston native is a member of the NSU Purple Jacket Honor Society and the Blue Key Honor Society, and in 2011 she became a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
She was listed on the Southland Conference Academic Honor Roll every year since her freshman year in 2009.
On the field, Halle controlled much of the traffic in the midfield as she started in 15 games and took 31 shots, which ranked third on the team. The senior recorded one assist to aid Yanci Johnson on the game-winner against Texas Southern.
