Armed with a long list of postseason experience, Zach Weinberg enters his second season on the Northwestern State volleyball staff.
Weinberg is in charge of breaking down and exchanging film/video and is the team’s travel coordinator. He also assists in the creation of scouting reports and in all facets of in-gym training.
In his first season, Weinberg helped the NSU program earn its first Southland Conference Tournament championship and its first NCAA Tournament berth, continuing his career path of helping teams reach the NCAA postseason.
Weinberg began building his coaching resume while an undergraduate at Ohio University, working as a student assistant for the Bobcats.
Under then-head coach Ryan Theis, Weinberg assisted with training, travel, statistics and the breakdown of film for team scout sessions each week. His assistance led the Bobcats to three MAC tournament championships and NCAA tournament runs.
On the side, Weinberg served as president, head coach and captain of the Ohio men’s club volleyball team, as well as head coach in the ALETA Aces, an advanced training volleyball club in southeastern Ohio.
Weinberg graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management in March 2012 and spent a year working in ticketing for the Orlando Magic before returning home to Voorhees, N.J., to take over the second year program at Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill, N.J. The Fighting Irish went 1-21 in their inaugural season, but improved to 9-10 under Weinberg and qualified for a spot in the New Jersey Non-Public state tournament. Four of his student athletes earned All-Conference honors.
Weinberg expects to complete his Master of Science degree in Health and Human Performance at NSU in December.
