Former University of Alabama standout Lindsey Buteyn is in her second year as Lady Demon Volleyball graduate assistant, after being a vital coaching role during the breakout 21-win season in 2013. 
 
The Madison, Wis., native was a four-year letter winner and a team co-captain during her senior campaign in the Fall of 2008. 
 
As a senior, the middle blocker appeared in all 29 matches while registering 189 kills (1.80 k/set) in 485 attempts.
 
Buteyn aided in Alabama’s participation in the NCAA tournament for three straight seasons (2005-’07) while earning Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll accolades all four years.
      
After Alabama, Buteyn played professionally for a year with the VC-Tirol Volleyball league, a member of the Austrian First League, where her performance on the court helped maintain the team’s standing in the league.
 
Buteyn returned to the states and spent the 2010 season with the Tusculoum College Lady Pioneers as a volunteer assistant where she aided in TC’s 25-7 record, a second place finish in the South Atlantic Conference and a NCAA Division II tournament appearance.
 
Buteyn began her coaching career as an assistant for the 18U Red squad as part of the Capital Volleyball Academy in Madison. She became head coach of the 15U team in 2011 and spent two seasons with the squad. Buteyn also aided in the organization of all tournaments, as well as coordination of the 14 and under youth development programs.
 
In high school, Buteyn earned two-time all-conference and fourth-team all-state honors. She helped guide Waupun School to back-to-back state championships and led WHS to a PrepVolleyball.com national ranking (#8) as a junior. The middle blocker was named to the state all-tournament team and also lettered in basketball (three years) and track & field (four years). She was a sectional qualifier in the 200m, 400m and 800m runs. Buteyn played for Wisconsin Power club team (formerly Club Breakout) that appeared in three straight Junior Olympic Championships including a ninth place national finish in 2003.
 
The daughter of Dean and Priscilla Buteyn, she graduated from Alabama in 2009 with a degree in communications. She is studying towards a master’s degree in health and human performance at NSU.
