Jordan Wheat enters his first season with NSU softball, following his graduation from Texas Christian University in December 2014.
A Flower Mound, Texas, native, Wheat spent six years as an athletic traing student with TCU where he worked with football, baseball and men’s and women’s track and field. While with the Horned Frog football program, Wheat designed protocols for athletes in post-surgery rehibiltation including post-surgical ACL rehibilation.
On the diamond, Wheat administered PNF patterns for shoulder maintenance on players and gained valuable experience as the Horned Frogs hosted the 2014 NCAA Regionals and Super Regionals. He also traveled with squad to the 2014 College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
While at TCU, Wheat worked the school’s summer camps helping provide hydration and medical coverage for athletes participating in football and baseball camps.
Between June 2010 and October 2012, Wheat also worked as an athletic training intern with the Texas Rangers Baseball Club. There, he assisted the staff with day-to-day treatment, documentation and game coverage of home events. He assisted with the assessment of comphrehensive medical histories of potential draft prospects as well as inventory maintenance and packing for away competition.
Wheat is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and holds several certifications including being a Certified Athletic Trainer.
He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in health and human performance at Northwestern State.
