DJ Bennett joined the Northwestern State strength and conditioning staff as a graduate assistant in the summer of 2023 and works with the women's soccer team while also assisting with football.
Bennett comes to NSU from Warner University, where he led and directed cheerleader strength and performance and women’s flag football.
While with Warner, he also programmed and directed football performance and conditioning and assisted with strength.
Bennett also led players in 8–10-minute warmups before practice.
He was in charge of managing a team of 4-6 student assistants, assigning tasks, managing schedules, training and coaching
He also assisted coaches with training and drills.
Bennett interned in 2022 with the University of South Florida, where he coordinates with the director of strength and conditioning to instruct and supervise cheer, men’s volleyball for two weekly training sessions for each team.
While with USF, he aided more than 220 hours of strength and conditioning with football, softball, baseball and women’s soccer.
Bennett is a native of Florida, where he attended Warner University and played on the football team. He earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport leadership.
During his time at NSU, he will be pursuing a master’s degree in sport administration.
