Emily Morphitis

Emily Morphitis will begin her third season with the Northwestern State women’s soccer team after a successful goalkeeping career at Hofstra.
 
In her second season in charge of the goalkeepers in 2015, Morphitis guided both Brooke Bourbonais (graduated) and Alex Latham (rising junior) in large statistical improvements.

NSU’s overall goals against average dropped by nearly a full goal to 1.42 in 2015.

Latham’s goals against average dropped nearly one goal to 1.35 while Bourbonais’ average fell nearly one-half goal to 1.55.
In 2014, Morphitis guided Latham as a true freshman as she emerged as the, making 88 saves with a .704 save percentage in 17 starts.??

Morphitis,  a London, England native, ranks fifth in Hofstra’s all-time saves list with 170 career stops and finished with a 1.21 career goals against average. ??

She played a significant role all four years at Hofstra, including being the primary starter in her last three seasons before an injury prematurely ended her senior season.??

Morphitis was a platoon goalie as a freshman on a Hofstra squad that was ranked No. 18 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament second round. ??

She earned a spot on the All-Colonial Athletic Association freshman team and the first of two All-Colonial Athletic Association all-tournament teams. ??

After a 1.03 goals against average as a sophomore starter, Morphitis won the CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player as a junior on a conference champion team.??

Before Hofstra, Morphitis played club soccer for the Chelsea Ladies first team (2008-10) and with the England national teams (U-15, U-17 and U-19).  She capped at all levels, including sharing first-team games with England senior international Siobhan Chamberlain.
