Bud Denega joined Northwestern State in August of 2020 after one year as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.
While at Ohio Northern, Denega was the primary contact for men’s and women’s soccer, women’s basketball and baseball while also lending a hand in all 23 sports, as needed.
Before Ohio Northern, Denega was a sports reporter for five years at three different newspaper publications. He worked at The Sheridan Press in Sheridan, Wyoming, The Laredo Morning Times in Laredo, Texas, and The Minot Daily News in Minot, North Dakota.
During his time as a reporter, Denega won multiple writing honors from the Wyoming Press Association. He won Sports Feature of the Year in 2018, Columnist of the Year in 2019 while also taking second-place in Sport News Reporting and Column Writing in 2018.
In his first year at NSU, Denega will serve as a contact for women’s soccer and softball.
Denega is a native of Berea, Ohio, and a graduate of Berea High School. He received a dual-degree B.S. in Journalism and Geography from the University of Wyoming.
