Played freshman season at Central Arkansas…tallied a 6-4 record in 50.1 innings of work with two complete games and 20 strikeouts for the Bears…had back-to-back complete game victories against Illinois State (March 8) and Southeast Missouri (March 11) allowing just two runs across 12.0 innings of work, only one of them earned…also saw action during the season against Power 4 opponents Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Oklahoma State.

High School
Named 2023 Delaware Gatorade Player of the Year following a senior season where she went 18-4 with a 1.08 ERA, a WHIP of 0.77, allowing just 23 earned runs with 275 strikeouts…helped lead her team to three state championship game appearances in four seasons…went a staggering 73-13 in the circle during her prep career with nine no-hitters and 1,045 career strikeouts…won 15 or more games and had 230 or more strikeouts in each of her four seasons…volunteered with her local Special Olympics and Strikeout ALS organizations as well as Educators Rising, helping faculty improve student leadership.

Personal
Daugher of Sarah and Gary Layfield Jr.…has two siblings, brother Garth and sister Taylor…has two collegiate athlete cousins and mom played field hockey at Salisbury University…majoring in elementary education…plans to return to Delaware and teach at the same school where her mom taught…life’s ambition is to life up to her mom’s legacy.
