Taylor Wilkes is in her second season as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Northwestern State.
After finishing two seasons with NSU soccer, Wilkes will be the lead trainer for NSU softball this spring.
She also assisted with NSU sports camps in men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and football.
Wilkes graduated from Alabama with a bachelor’s in athletic training in May 2017.
In the Alabama undergraduate program, Wilkes worked with the women’s soccer team for two seasons and with the football team for one season.
Wilkes evaluated injuries with an emphasis on ankles and knees as well as performed taping on the lower extremities.
She also implemented rehabilitation programs and evaluated various types of injuries at West Blocton and Hillcrest high school for one year in an array of varsity and junior varsity sports.
In the fall semester of 2015, Wilkes worked at DCH Outpatient Physical Therapy in which she assisted with rehab sessions.
Wilkes performed an internship at NSU in the summer of 2016 aiding in pre-preparation for physicals with incoming freshmen.
The Boaz, Ala., native is a licensed athletic trainer from the state boards of Louisiana and Alabama and is an American Heart Association Healthcare Provider.
She’s a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association as well as the Southeast Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Alabama Athletic Trainers’ Association.
Wilkes assisted at special events such as an NCAA Regional Gymnastics meet and an Alabama High School Regional Basketball Tournament.
She claims membership in the Golden Key Honor Society, Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the Sigma Kappa Delta Honor Society.
