After a decorated pitching career and a stint as a volunteer assistant coach, Brooke Boening returned to NSU as the Lady Demons pitching coach in the summer of 2018.

Boening has developed a reputation of turning around pitching staffs in her coaching career at NSU, Rhode Island and Southeastern.

As a volunteer at NSU in 2015, Boening helped tutor an NSU pitching staff with a conference-low 1.19 ERA that featured both All-Southland Conference First Team pitcher Mikayla Brown (Pitcher of Year) and Micaela Bouvier (first-team all-conference).

NSU’s ERA improved by more than three full points from 2014. Boening will reunite with Brown, who will be pitching as a redshirt senior and likely to enter NSU’s record books in multiple statistics.

Boening spent the 2018 season at Southeastern, where she helped the Lady Lions to its best record in 34 years.

Senior Rachel Hayes made the All-Southland Conference Third Team as the catalyst behind an SLU staff that lowered its team ERA a full point to 2.99.

In her first full-time gig at Rhode Island, Boening tutored two freshmen to the All-Atlantic 10 Rookie Team in her two seasons.

Boening was an accomplished pitcher for the Lady Demons from 2010-13.

The Floresville, Texas, native posted 28 career wins in four seasons including an 8-6 mark as a senior on a team that won the Southland Conference Tournament and reached the NCAA Tournament in 2013. Boening posted a 9-9 mark as a freshman in which she struck out a career-high 132 batters.

She finished her career sixth in strikeouts with 384.

Boening graduated with a bachelor’s degree in health and exercise science in 2013 with a master’s degree in sports administration in 2015.
