2000-01
  • broke school single-season blocked shots record with 69 rejections despite starting only on game and averaging just 13.5 minutes while playing in al 32 games
  • broke NSU, Southland Conference and Louisiana collegiate single-game blocked shots record with 13 vs. Southwest Texas on Jan. 22 at home. The 13  blocks was the best single-game total in the nation in 2000-01 and was one shy of tying the NCAA record shared by four players including David Robinson
  • the 13 blocked shots was part of a stunning triple-double, only the second in school history. Fischer had 11 points and also 14 rebounds in the 75-70 win. Going into the game, in his first 13 collegiate games, Fischer totaled 43 points and 14 blocks

Before NSU
  • graduated from Upper Darby in 1999 and did not attend college during the 1999-2000 academic year
  • attended four high schools in four years due to family relocations, and did not finish a season of prep basketball. Attended school in Maryland as a freshman and did not play basketball. As a sophomore, he played briefly at Monsignor Bonner HS in Philadelphia but quit to work more hours at Burger King. As a junior, he had to quit the team at Middletown (Md.) for lying to his godparents about a grade. In his senior season at upper Darby, he left the team after eight games because of a lack of playing time.
  • spent 1999-2000 living with his sister, who was stationed at the Columbus (Miss.) Air Force Base
  • drew notice from recruiters after playing in a pickup games on the base; got attention from recruiters at Mississippi State, ole Miss and Tulane but Demon assistant Dave Simmons made the successful scholarship pitch
  • voted "Most Likely to Succeed" in his senior class and chosen "Class Clown" although he attended Upper Darby for only five months prior to the elections
