Matt Sherman hopes to be a chip off the old block. His father, Jeff Sherman, is a member of the Missouri Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame and is the head men’s coach at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo.
Son played for father for four years, graduating as a Dean’s List student with a 3.4 grade point average. Sherman was a star player for an NAIA Sweet Sixteen team in 2009 and a conference championship squad last season.
A two-time honorable mention NAIA All-American, Sherman made an amazing 438 career 3-pointers, including 138 in a season, setting school records in both categories. In 2008-09, he led the nation’s NAIA ranks in 3-pointers made and 3-point percentage. Sherman finished with more than 1,800 career points.
A physical education graduate of CMU, where his mother Julee is vice president of finance, Sherman aims to become an NCAA Division I head coach. He has one younger brother, 21-year-old Ryan. Born on March 3, 1988.
