Fresh off a two-year career at nationally ranked Division II power Fort Lewis College, Lucas Archuleta enters his first season as a graduate manager with the Northwestern State basketball team.
Archuleta was a team captain his senior year at Fort Lewis, helping the Skyhawks achieve a No. 17 national ranking. Fort Lewis won at least 20 games in each of his two seasons at the Durango, Colorado, school. Archuleta scored a career-high 15 points against Texas-Permian Basin in November 2014 and handed out a career-best six assists against Colorado-Mesa in December 2014.
Prior to playing at Fort Lewis, Archuleta spent two seasons at Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colorado. Archuleta scored 530 points in two seasons at Otero, leaving as the No. 30 all-time scorer in program history.
His play helped the Rattlers win their first Region IX championship and pushed them into the Elite Eight of the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas. The Rattlers finished the season with a No. 12 national ranking.
Archuleta graduated from Fort Lewis with a bachelor’s degree in business finance in May 2015. He earned his associate’s degree in business administration from Otero in May 2012.Â
Archuleta played two seasons at Rio Rancho (N.M.) High School, earning all-conference honors both seasons. As a high school senior, he led the state of New Mexico in scoring at 25 points per game, was named district Player of the Year, first-team all-state, first-team all-metro and participated in the Class 5A North-South All-Star Game.Â
He spent his first two seasons at Santa Fe (N.M.) High School where he was a second-team all-conference selection as a sophomore and an honorable mention pick as a freshman.
Archuleta is the son of Cindy and Johnny Archuleta and has one brother (Dustin) and one sister (Kalie). He currently is pursuing a master’s degree in health and human performance. Â
