Lance Erving is in his third season on the Northwestern State staff, serving as an assistant coach.

Erving arrives at NSU after spending his college and playing career at Niagara University where he played for the Purple Eagles for two years.
Erving played in 58 games for Niagara, starting in 11 games for the Eagles during his junior year and 7 games his senior year.
He averaged 2.6 points, 1.2 rebounds, and .7 assists per game in his career with the Eagles while shooting 40.6 percent from the field and 36.1 percent behind the arc. He scored a career high of 12 against St. John's on Nov. 26, 2022.
Prior to joining the Purple Eagles, Erving played at Chipola Community College, where he helped lead the team to a 2021-22 Pan Handle Championship and back-to-back NJCAA Final Four appearances.
Erving played in 33 games, starting in 32 of those games. He averaged 6.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, while swiping 1.6 steals per game. He was a two-time All-Panhandle Conference Second Team selection
Erving is a native of Leesburg, Florida, and graduated from Niagara University, earning an undergraduate degree in criminal justice psychology in May 2024
