Beginning her sixth year as a member of the Northwestern State athletic staff, Cathy Martin is an integral part of the office operations of Demon basketball, as well as one of their most loyal and ardent fans.
After working as the secretary for NSU Sports Information for almost two years, she moved into the basketball department, where she handles all clerical work for men's basketball, as well as for the softball department.
Known for her warm, friendly disposition, she adds a caring touch to the very busy Demon basketball office, where the team members refer to her as their "Mom-away-from-home." A Grant Parish native, she attended Verda High School, where she played basketball and was valedictorian of her graduating class of 1971. She also attended Bossier Parish Community College.
Cathy is married to Michael J. Martin, who is Assistant Director of Public Works for the City of Natchitoches. They enjoy many shared interest, such as gardening, camping, hiking, woodworking, antiques and history.
They are proud parents of a son, Michael Shane Martin of Springdale, Arkansas, daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Aaron Youngblood of Oden, Arkansas, and daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Eric Upchurch of Robeline, Louisiana. And the joy of their hearts, their grandchildren, Zachary, Trace, Presley, and Emily Claire.
