Billy Kennedy

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Billy Kennedy, a native of New Orleans with recruiting ties throughout the South, brings major college coaching experience to the Demon basketball staff.

A 1986 graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Kennedy began his climb up the coaching ladder as an assistant for Louisiana Spartan of the AAU.  Such names as Jaren Jackson and Jonathon Edwards, currently members of the Georgetown Hoyas, got their start in organized basketball with Kennedy as their coach.

After serving as a student assistant at Southeastern, Kennedy landed a spot of the staff of Benny Dees as the University of New Orleans.  The Privateers promptly went 216-4 before losing in the second round of the NCAA tournament to Alabama.

Last year, Kennedy was again next to Dees on the bench, only this time it was the pines of the Wyoming Cowboys, a squad that recorded a 26-6 mark and regular season WAC championship before losing in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

He and his wife, Cecile are parents of a son, Will.
