Ashley Jackson joins the staff of the Northwestern State Lady Demons this season and will serve as the director of basketball operations as she works towards her master’s degree in sport administration.
The Shreveport native recently wrapped up a stellar playing career at Centenary where she became only the fourth player in Ladies history to reach the 1,000 career points scored milestone. She did it after scoring 16 points against Southern Utah last January.
During her four-year stint at Centenary where she earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and philosophy last May, Jackson played in 111 games for the Ladies while making 97 starts. She finished her career with a career scoring average of 10.2 points per game and 1,133 points scored, placing her second all-time in the Centenary record book.
After her senior season, Jackson earned a spot on the Summit League Honorable Mention All-League team while averaging 13.6 points in conference games only, 12.4 ppg overall. She finished the season with 18 double-figure scoring games and seven double-doubles. She also led Centenary with 7.7 rebounds per game and 26 blocked shots. She scored a career-high 25 points against IPFW on Dec. 31.
As a junior, Jackson topped the team in scoring (10.5 ppg), blocked shots (35), assists (51), and steals (43). She scored double-figures 16 times and notched two double-doubles.
In high school, Jackson earned all-district, all-city, all-state, and academic all-district honors while lettering three years at Loyola College Prep. She was also recognized as a KTBS Athlete of the Week and was a McDonald’s All-American nominee and was named to the LHSAA All-Star team as a senior.
Born Dec. 23, 1988, Jackson is the daughter of Centenary basketball Hall of Famers Zebber and Willie Jackson.
After obtaining her master’s degree from NSU, Jackson plans on attending law school or go into coaching.
