Virgil Hart is in his third season as an administrative graduate manager at Northwestern State, bringing with him a background rooted in offensive line teaching.
In his first season with the Demons, Hart helped offensive tackle Pace Murphy earn second-team All-Southland Conference honors and sign an NFL free agent contract with the Los Angeles Rams.Â
Hart spent the 2014 season as the tight ends coach at Montana Western, where he also assisted in coaching the offensive line. Hart was responsible for identifying and recruiting student-athletes in Northern and Southern California, Las Vegas, Florida and Washington.
After finishing his career as a center at the University of San Diego, Hart was a student assistant coach for the Toreros, working closely with the offensive line. He assisted the offensive line coach with drills, scouting, game planning and recruiting while also creating scouting reports. Â Prior to lettering at USD, Hart was an All-Nor Cal center at Laney Community College in Oakland, California.Â
Hart spent part of the 2014 summer working with USA Football as the offensive line coach for the Southern California developmental camp. Â As part of the staff, Hart supervised drills and conditioning while critiquing and helping campers improve their technique.
A Spring 2014 sociology graduate of the University of San Diego, Hart coached boys basketball at Winton Middle School for two seasons from 2009-11. He will complete his master’s degree in counseling in December.Â
