Travon Carter, a two-year starter at Eastern Kentucky, enters his second season on the Northwestern State coaching staff as an administrative graduate assistant with the offensive line, where he works with J Pond.

Carter is reunited with his former Trinity Valley Community College head coach Brad Smiley, the Northwestern State offensive coordinator.

Carter spent the 2017 season as an offensive quality control assistant at Trinity Valley, assisting primarily with the offensive line as well as the Cardinals’ strength and conditioning program.

He spent two years at Performance Course, a strength and conditioning complex, improving young athletes’ speed, agility, quickness and other physical attributes.

Carter played two seasons at Eastern Kentucky from 2013-14, starting at left guard for the Colonels. Prior to that, Carter was an All-American at Trinity Valley, leading the way for a record-setting offense.

A two-year letterman at Lancaster (Texas) High School, Carter was an instructor at the Dean Hood Football Camp in 2012-13.

He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in mental health counseling at Northwestern State.Â
