As offensive coordinator, Robby Brown helped Valdosta State win the NCAA Division II national championship in 2012 as his offense averaged 469 yards and produced 40 points per game. A former Georgia Tech quarterback, his coaching career began at Troy under offensive coordinator Tony Franklin (now at California after Louisiana Tech) as they helped the Trojans win the 2006 Sun Belt Conference championship.
 
Brown has run record-shattering offenses as the coordinator at Henderson State (2008) and Southwest Baptist (2007) before coaching at Valdosta State from 2009-12.
 
Brown steered Valdosta State to a No. 13 national ranking in total offense and No. 9 in scoring last season as the Blazers led the rugged Gulf South Conference in all major offensive statistics. His quarterback earned D-II All-Region honors.
 
His 2010 team ranked 25th nationally in total offense (418 ypg) and 12th in passing (286 ypg). One of his receivers set the GSC career receptions record.
 
As offensive coordinator at Southwest Baptist in 2007, Brown’s players set 29 school records, six Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association marks and two national records. Flanker Nick Smart broke the NCAA all-divisions record with 143 receptions and was an All-American.
 
A year later at Henderson State, Brown was the offensive coordinator as the Reddies ranked third in Division II in passing (averaging 330 yards) and 18th in total offense (448 yards per game). Henderson State set 12 school records including points per game (32.8) and yards per game. He coached an All-American and two all-GSC selections, including a receiver who ranked second nationally with 121 yards per game. His quarterback ranked sixth nationally in pass yards (321 pg).
 
His coaching career began in 2005 at Troy under veteran head coach Larry Blakeney. A year later, Tony Franklin and Neal Brown arrived on staff and the Trojans exploded offensively in a New Orleans Bowl season.
 
Playing Experience:  Brown was a quarterback at Georgia Tech under coach Chan Gailey as the Yellow Jackets won the 2003 Humanitarian Bowl, and the 2004 Champs Sports Bowl, with him playing the final series both years. Brown also played at Georgia Military College. He was a standout at Union County High in Blairsville, Georgia, where he was a four-year letterwinner who was team MVP and captain. He also played baseball and basketball. He attended Hargrove Military Academy in Virginia for one year.
 
Personal:  33 years old, born July 15, 1980. Full name is Robert Parks Brown. He married the former Rachel Rhodes Jones on June 19, 2004, and they have one infant child. A 1999 Union County High graduate, Brown earned a bachelor of history, technology and society from Georgia Tech in 2004 and a master’s degree in sports and fitness management from Troy in 2007.
