Omasha Brantley enters his second season as a graduate assistant with the Northwestern State football program, working with the wide receivers.
In his first season at NSU, Brantley worked with a veteran group of receivers, including Dallas Cowboys free-agent signee Ed Eagan.
Brantley comes to NSU after spending the 2014 season as a graduate assistant at Texas A&M-Commerce, where he conducted daily meetings with the team’s running backs and tight ends, planned and coordinated daily position drills, coached special teams and helped implement the team’s “Air Raid” offense, which led NCAA Division II in scoring.
Prior to coaching at Texas A&M-Commerce, Brantley was a three-year student assistant at Southland Conference member Sam Houston State, working with the Bearkats’ running backs.
Brantley, a 2014 Sam Houston graduate in kinesiology, helped the Bearkats finish as the top rushing team in FCS all three years he was in Huntsville.
Brantley also oversaw academics for the team’s running backs and organized chartered bus travel for the team, which reached consecutive FCS National Championship Games in 2011 and 2012.
He is pursuing a master’s degree in educational leadership at Northwestern State.
