Jared Myatt begins his third season as Northwestern State's director of strength and conditioning.
Myatt led the effort to install a nutrition and snack center in the field house, providing student-athletes a quick pick-me-up before and after practices.
He designs and implents workouts and nutrition with football and a variety of other sports.
A Shreveport native and former football letterman at Louisiana College, Myatt brings with him a variety of experience in the strength and conditioning industry.
Upon completing his four-year career as an all-conference defensive lineman at Louisiana College in 2014, Myatt was the head strength and conditioning intern at his alma mater from January-May 2015. After completing his undergraduate degree in exercise science in May 2015, Myatt served as a volunteer strength and conditioning coach at Louisiana Tech before becoming a graduate assistant at Mercer University.
While at Mercer, Myatt was the strength and conditioning coach for softball, men’s and women’s tennis, volleyball and beach volleyball while assisting with men’s and women’s lacrosse, baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf and men’s and women’s soccer.
Myatt completed his master’s degree in higher education leadership from Mercer in December 2016 and spent the next three months as a volunteer assistant at LSU, working with football, baseball and volleyball. He oversaw conditioning for Tigers baseball players during position-specific training and pitchers.
Immediately before coming to Natchitoches, Myatt was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Appalachian State where he was the primary wrestling strength and conditioning coach and assisted with the creation and implementation of workouts for the Mountaineers football team.
Myatt, Louisiana College’s Defensive Lineman of the Year in both 2013 and 2014 and a first-team Academic All-American Southwest Conference pick in 2014, is a National Strength and Conditioning Association certified strength and conditioning specialist. He is a Level 1 and 2 certified USA Weightlifting advanced sports performance coach. Additionally, Myatt is CPR and AED certified and holds a level 1 exercise nutrition certification from Precision Nutrition.
