D’Onshuv’e Coofer is in his second season as part of the Northwestern State coaching staff, assisting with the defensive line.
In his first season, Coofer helped mold a group that folded in a first-team defensive lineman (Isaiah Longino) and one returning starter (Nathalohn Nanai) into a cohesive unit.
A 2018 All-American and a four-time all-conference selection, Coofer was a two-year captain at Rhodes College and spent two years on the team’s Player Council.
On the field, Coofer earned Rhodes’ Most Valuable Player award as a senior after making 42 tackles, 6 for loss, 1.5 sacks, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick.
A defensive lineman, Coofer earned All-Southern Athletic Association honors and team Defensive MVP acclaim in both his sophomore and junior seasons. In his All-American season as a junior, Coofer tallied 53 tackles (15.5 for loss), nine sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in nine games.
He participated in the FAF D3 Senior Bowl in December 2019 after finishing his career at Rhodes.
A May 2020 Rhodes College graduate in international business, Coofer is fluent in Spanish, was the vice president of the Nu Eta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and the president of the Rhodes College Chapter of the National Pan-Hellenic Council. He has work experience in the insurance field and worked as a camp counselor and teacher’s aide for Time to Rise in Nashville for four years.
He is pursuing a master’s degree in health and human performance at Northwestern State.
