Austen Jacobs begins his second season as an administrative graduate manager on the Northwestern State staff, working with the team’s tight ends.

In his first season with the Demons, Jacobs was part of a staff that guided NSU to a much-improved sixth-place finish in the 11-team Southland Conference standings, with four wins, and two near-misses of road victories over FCS playoff entries Nicholls and Sam Houston State.

Jacobs spent the 2016 season as the tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator at Humboldt State, a Division II program in Arcata, California. .

Jacobs coordinated the punt and punt return teams, served as the primary line of communication to the play caller in the press box and was responsible for recruiting the San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose areas.  Jacobs was also instrumental in developing All-American running back Ja’Quan Gardner.
 

Prior to his tenure at Humboldt State, Jacobs spent two seasons as an offensive quality control assistant at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, competing in the Mountain West Conference.  At CSU, Jacobs was mentored by two of college football’s best offensive minds, Jim McElwain and Mike Bobo.


Jacobs currently is pursuing a master’s degree in sport administration at Northwestern State.
