2012 Season: Competed in six of seven meets for the Demons...had a season-best finish of 13th at the ULM Warhawk invitational, completing the 5 mile course in 32:15.1...was the sixth runner for NSU at the SLC Championships, finishing the 8000m course in 29:04.1 and placing 65th.

2011 Season: Competed in four of seven meets for NSU.

High School: Lettered all four years in cross country, three years in track and two years in swimming…cross country team were district champions four consecutive years while the swim team finished his freshman season as district runner-up…in cross country, Matt clocked strong finishes at district including two top 10 finishes and his highest finish of fourth in his senior year…during that same time, Matt clocked his fastest time in cross country (5000m in 16:44) and became the district track champion in the 800m with a time of 1:58…he also was a regional qualifier in the 200m IM and 100m Fly in his freshman and sophomore year….. participated in the Technology Club and served as FF2 Secretary…selected to the National Honor Society and earned academic achievement all four years…graduated with a 3.6 G.P.A.

Personal: Born on Sept. 9, 1992….son of Melvin and Sherri Mason…had one brother, Chris, and two sisters, Jamie and Gina…sister, Jamie was a nationally-ranked volleyball player (middle blocker) at the University of Texas at Permian Basin….majoring in nursing.
