BATON ROUGE—Kahliyah Anderson ran a season-best 24.40 in the 200-meter dash to place second to lead Northwestern State on Friday on day one of the Pelican Relays on the campus of Southern University.

Anderson ran the 200 for the first time this outdoor season, but her best in the indoor season was a 24.60, clocked at the Woo Pig Classic. The 24.40 time was .28 off her personal best time of 24.12, which was set at the 2024 Leon Johnson NSU Invitational.

She came in second, only behind Southern's Tashina Alase, who ran a 24.07.

On the men's side, Elijah Rowe clocked a 21.65 to finish sixth overall and third among Southern Conference runners, behind Nisaiah Bennett (21.21) and Jonell Scott (21.61) of Nicholls, who came in first and fourth, respectively.

Coming in right behind Rowe was Mikkel Johansson, who clocked a 21.68 to come in seventh.

Antoine Evans finished in 11th overall and third among the Demons with a time of 22.00.

The meet finishes on Saturday, as NSU competes in both the 400-meter dash and the pole vault, as four competitors from each gender will participate on the final day of Pelican Relays before traveling to California for a pair of meets next weekend.
