NATCHITOCHES – Micah Thomas delivered a pair of standout performances last week, leading the Northwestern State men's basketball team to a key Southland Conference victory and earning Southland Conference Player of the Week honors as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

The award is chosen weekly by a vote of conference sports information directors.

A 6-foot, 160-pound senior from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Thomas averaged 25.0 points per game across matchups against McNeese and Houston Christian, guiding the Demons to a 1-1 mark during the week.

In the Demons' loss to McNeese, Thomas poured in 27 points on 7-of-17 shooting and went 12-of-13 from the free-throw line. He sparked a late surge as Northwestern closed the game on a 13-0 run and held the Cowboys scoreless for nearly eight minutes.

Thomas followed that performance with 23 points in a win against HCU, going a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line. His effort helped secure the Demons' largest Southland Conference victory of the season and their largest margin of victory since Dec. 20 against Southern New Orleans.

Thomas' production proved pivotal as Northwestern continued building momentum in conference play late in the season.

With the honor, Thomas becomes the first Demon to earn Southland Conference Player of the Week recognition since Addison Patterson claimed the award on Jan. 27, 2025.
