NATCHITOCHES—The beginning of his sophomore season could not have gone much better for Will Achee.

Two school records from the Bossier City native earned him the Southland Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
The weekly award is his first ever during his brief NSU career so far.

On day one at the Corky Classic this past weekend, clocked an indoor school record, running a 46.84 in the 400-meter dash. Achee won his heat and placed fifth overall in the event, running in a stacked field at Texas Tech.

If that was not enough, he came back on day two and was a part of another school record.

This time, it was in the men's 4x400 relay.

The quartet of Achee, Desmond Duncan, Kason Jones and Elijah Rowe ran a 3:08.13 to smash the previous indoor record of 3:09.05, set last season.

Both marks lead the Southland by a good amount.

In the 400, Achee leads his teammate Duncan by nearly a full second, while the 4x400 relay leads second place Lamar by nearly 10 full seconds.

It is a major step up for Achee, as he ran a 48.52 in the 2025 Corky Classic and a 3:12.78 in the 4x400 relay, as he shaved nearly two seconds off his 400 time and nearly four full seconds off his relay time.

Achee and the track athletes take the weekend off before traveling to Kansas for the Pittsburg State Invitational on Jan. 31 in the second indoor meet of the season.
