NATCHITOCHES—Soccer head coach Ian Brophy added a veteran coach with head coaching experience with the hiring of Clifford Jordan as his associate head coach, Brophy announced Monday.

Jordan is going to coach the goalkeepers but will help coaching in all aspects of the team.

"I am very excited to add Clifford to the staff and really get to build this program together," Brophy said. "He brings a wealth of experience, dedication and recruiting knowledge and will just be a massive asset to our program in so many ways. His addition certainly allows us to continue what we have been building here since my arrival."

He comes to Natchitoches following a six-year stint as the head coach of the DIII  Huntingdon College women's soccer program, where he finished .500 or better in conference play in five of his seven seasons at the helm.

During his first season in charge, his team scored 10 goals in a victory over Wesleyan (Ga.) and advanced to the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals.

In his tenure at Huntingdon, a total of 12 players were named all-conference, including three on the first team.

Jordan was instrumental in the development of Erin Cembrale, who made all-conference three times in her four seasons, including to the first tea, as a senior in 2022.

He also coached Madison Tryon to become a two-time all-conference selection, including to the first team in 2023.

Prior to becoming the head coach at Huntingdon, he spent a season as an assistant with the Lady Hawks, where Huntingdon was 7-8-3 and reached the USA South Tournament quarterfinals.

Before his time at Huntingdon, Jordan spent one season with the Knox College women's soccer program as the top assistant and goalkeeper coach in 2017.

Jordan helped Knox post a 14-6-2 record and his goalkeepers posted 13 shutouts, leading the Prairie Fire to a Midwest Conference Tournament championship and advancing to the Division III national tournament.

During his season with the Prairie Fire, his Knox team produced two All-Region selections, the conference's Defensive Player of the Year, seven all-conference selections and 22 academic all-conference performers.

He was in Division I before Knox, as he was an assistant with the Alabama State women's program.

In 2016, Jordan was the second assistant coach for the Alabama State University women's soccer program.

With the Hornets, his team won 11 games and captured the program's first conference championship, advancing to the NCAA Tournament. Jordan's goalkeepers earned five conference goalkeeper of the week awards during the 2016 season.
Before that, he served as a men's assistant coach with Lincoln College, where the team went 9-4 and advanced to the quarterfinals in Region 24.

Under Jordan's tutelage, multiple goalkeepers on the roster posted a save percentage of .800 or better.

A native of Dunnellon, Fla., Jordan graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor's degree in 2014.

While at USF, he worked with the women's soccer program from 2012-2013 as an undergraduate assistant coach, as Jordan assisted in preparing goalkeepers along with video analysis, team and player scouting, camp operations and the day-to-day training.

In addition to the hiring of Clifford, NSU is also bringing back former Demon Caroline Hilliard as the graduate assistant coach.

During her tenure between 2021-2024, she played in 77 games as a defender, starting 66. A natural leader, she took home SLC Freshman of the Year honors in 2021, helping lead the Demons to their first conference crown since 2005.

In her four seasons on the back line for NSU, she helped contribute to 32 shutouts, including 12 in her freshman season in Natchitoches.

The Demons report to camp July, as the team aims to take another step under Brophy after improving its win total by five a season ago.
