NATCHITOCHES—Northwestern State soccer received another commitment in the form of versatile transfer midfielder Kate Bouck, head coach Ian Brophy announced Monday.

Bouck, a native of Flagstaff, Arizona, comes to Natchitoches after one season playing in her hometown with Northern Arizona, as the Lumberjacks finished 4-3-1 in the Big Sky, a fourth-place finish.

"I am very excited to add not only an athletically and technically versatile player in Kate but also a great person who can make an impact both on and off the pitch," Brophy said.

She joins freshman Gabriela Page as midfielders being brought in during this recruiting cycle so far.

With the Lumberjacks, she played in one game, against Grand Canyon, after a sensational high school career at Flagstaff High School.

A three-year starter in high school, Bouck scored 39 goals in her last two seasons. As a senior, she was named the Arizona Daily Sun Soccer Athlete of the Year and the Grand Canyon Region Player of the Year.

As a junior, she made the Grand Canyon Region Second Team.

During her four seasons, she helped lead the Lumberjacks to a 45-5 record in 4A Conference play, including 36-1 in her final three seasons. She helped Flagstaff High to three appearances in the semifinals of the Arizona 4A State Championship.

Academically at NAU, she was given a Golden Eagle Award, which is a student athlete with a GPA above a 3.0.

That brings the total number of newcomers to eight, including three transfers, joining goalkeeper Julia Zangerl and defender Anika Sproxton, as they aim to try to take one more step forward as they try for another SLC crown.
