NATCHITOCHES—The queen of the track is at it again.
For the third time during the 2025 season and second during the outdoor season,
Maygan Shaw takes home the Southland Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week award, the league announced Wednesday.
Shaw, a senior from Pineville, clocked a 51.87 in the women's 400-meter dash, which not only broke the Northwestern State record, but also the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational record, the Walter P. Ledet Track & Field Complex record and the Southland Conference mark.
Shaw broke the record of former teammate
Sanaria Butler, who ran a 52.09 at regionals in 2024.
To begin the meet, Shaw—along with
Samari Finney,
Dynia Lewis and
Sileena Farrell—set a season best in the women's 4x100, running a 44.94, which is the top mark in the SLC this season.
Both marks are the top times in the league.
She holds the best time in the SLC in the 200, 400, 4x100 and 4x400 and is second in the 100.
Shaw and her teammates prepare to travel to Baylor for the Michael Johnson Invitational, starting Friday.
