LUBBOCK, Texas—Another meet, another record for the Northwestern State track and field teams.

For the fourth time in two meets, the track and field teams found the top of the school record books.

This time, it is not one, but both 4x400 relay teams breaking the school record on the final day of the Stan Scott Invite and Multis, wrapping up a sensational meet for the teams on Saturday on the campus of Texas Tech.
Once again, the women's time also sets the Southland Conference record.

"It was another great day," head coach Mike Heimerman said. "The women 4x4 set school and conference records and men's 4x4 set a school record. The 200's were on fire, led by Maygan and Galen. All of them ran so well.

"Throwers had a good day led by Ryah Dates with a big PR. Every one of these athletes is buying into the process and putting in the work and it's showing. It's a tight knit group that supports each other and cheers for each other and picks each other up when needed. It's a fun group to be with and this coaching staff wouldn't want anyone else."

The women started it off, clocking a 3:36.76 to place second, finishing only behind UCF's 3:33.81. The quartet of Maygan Shaw, Tranasia Jones, Margaret Conteh and Kahliyah Anderson broke the record that was set all the way back to two weeks ago.

After seeing the women break the record again, the men also set its record, running a 3:10.87 to finish third out of 17. The group of Kason Jones, Vincente Graiani, William Achee and Galen Loyd broke the record by nearly two seconds, set in 2020. They only trailed South Plains and Ohio State.

Shaw, a member of the women's relay team, nearly set another school record, running a blazing 23.60 to place fourth in the 200-meter dash and finishing with the second-best mark in program history.

Shaw was one of five women to earn personal bests in the 200. She was joined by Conteh (24.11), Anderson (24.46), Jayla Mason (24.97) and Tranasia Jones (25.00), who placed 20th, 29th, 50th and 52nd, respectively.

On the men's side, Galen Loyd and William Achee continued strong starts to the season, as Loyd ran a personal-best 21.42 to place 17th, while Achee ran a personal-best 21.58 to finish 27th out of 95.

Tavis Wilson (21.85), Kason Jones (21.94) and reigning SLC Male Track Athlete of the Week Graiani (22.08) placed 44th, 51st and 55th, respectively.

In the field, Ryah Dates stole the show as a freshman in the women's shot put section B, tossing a 47-5 to place atop the standings. Carnitra Macker (44-1.5) and Shakera Williams (44-0.75) placed fifth and seventh, respectively.

Shanice Hutson finished seventh with a distance of 46-1.75 in the section A of the shot put.

On the men's side, Justin Craft tossed a personal-best 53-1.75 to finish third out of 13 competitors. Abner Johnson (51-9.75) and Tarajh Hudson (50-0.5) finished seventh and ninth, respectively.

Madison Brown cleared 12-5.5 in the pole vault to place fifth, while Randy Kelly cleared 6-9.5 to also finish fifth, doing so in the high jump.

At the Robert Platt Invitational, freshman Mason Bayne clocked a 2:05.84 in the men's 800-meter dash and running unattached, John Klein clocked an 8:47.45 to place 23rd.

After a week off, the Northwestern State track and field teams resume competition at another SEC venue, traveling to the campus of the University of Arkansas for the Tyson Invitational, starting Feb. 14.
