FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas—For nearly 26 minutes, the Northwestern State soccer team was holding one of the best offenses in the country in check.
But three goals in a span of 10 minutes turned a scoreless contest into a comfortable Arkansas advantage at halftime and it didn't stop from there in a 10-0 victory for the No. 9 Razorbacks on Sunday afternoon at the Razorback Soccer Field.
NSU (0-3) was unable to withstand the strong Arkansas (2-0-1) attack, surrendering 47 shots, with 26 on goal.
The Razorbacks had chances to score in the first 25 minutes, but
Libe Banuelos made five of her eight saves in that period to keep the game scoreless.
The top 10 team could only be held down for so long, as Arkansas scored three goals in the next 10 minutes to take command before halftime.
First, Ava Tankersley scored on a left-footed shot that sneaked just inside the left post for the first goal of the afternoon.
In the 31
st minute, Kate Doyle scored on a perfectly placed header and Sophia Aragon connected on a free kick in the 36
th minute to put the home team up 3-0.
NSU had a few chances to break the ice early, including a run by Isabella Reggiano with a breakaway opportunity, but the Arkansas defense was able to track her down and thwart the NSU chance.
The Lady Demons only shot of the afternoon came off the foot of
Jessica Spitzer, but it rolled wide in the 44
th minute.
In the first half, last year's leading scorer

With the score 7-0 in the 82
nd minute, Arkansas kept the pressure up and scored three times in the final nine minutes, including one by Field with 11 seconds remaining in the game to push the Razorbacks into double digits.
Eight different Razorbacks scored their 10 goals, as Emma Johns and Bella Field were the only players to find the back of the net twice.
Tankersly and Macy Schultz each recorded two assists for Arkansas.
Field led the way with eight shot attempts, including five on goal. Doyle (5) and Johns (4) also both tallied at least four shot attempts.
Overall, 21 players attempted at least one shot for Arkansas.
Making her first career regular season appearance for NSU,
Kennedy Rist played the final 24 minutes in net, stopping six of 10 shots on frame.
She was tested early and often, making a spectacular diving stop on her first chance and making four saves in her first five minutes of action.
The 10 goals are the most scored by Arkansas since 2021 and most given up by NSU since allowing 12 to Centenary in 1997.
NSU is back in action Thursday night when it stays in the state of Louisiana for the first time for a road date with UL Lafayette to conclude the four-match road trip to begin the season.
