THIBODAUX – Neither the rain or Nicholls could stop the Northwestern State tennis team Monday. 

NSU (10-7, 3-3) bounced back from a defeat last time out to roll 6-1 at Nicholls and even their conference record. 

After a five-hour rain delay, NSU took the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. 

Doubles pairing Sara Erenda and Tjasa Klevisar defeated their opponents 6-3 on No. 1. In the second spot, Sofi Garcia and Maria Farina took the victory, 6-4. 

Garcia gave the Lady Demons the lead after Nicholls (6-12, 0-7), making it 2-1, with a dominant performance, 6-2, 6-0. 

Klevisar defeated Liu QianYu in the top singles slot 6-4 in the first set and only allowed one game in the second, 6-1 to win the match in straight sets and push the advantage to 3-1. 

Farina clinched the match for NSU with a straight-sets win at No. 3 over Lea Grinberg, 6-2, 6-3. 

Honoka Umeda added to the score after a 6-2 first set win and a 7-5 second set win to make it 5-1. 

Erenda fought for the win in the first set, tying the score 6-6 before winning the tiebreaker 7-3. She went on to win the second set 6-4 to make the final 6-1. 

The Lady Demons return home for the final regular season match against Texas A&M – Corpus Christi on Saturday at 11 a.m.
