HAMMOND – Northwestern State expected a dog fight, and that's what it had, as the Lady Demons won a 4-2 road fight against Southeastern Louisiana. 

Short-handed NSU (9-6, 2-2) bounced back from back-to-back close road defeats to even its conference record behind huge performances from Tjasa Klevisar and Honoka Umeda. 

Despite competing with five players, the Lady Demons won the doubles point with victories on No. 1 and 2. 

Maria Farina and Sofi Garcia only allowed one game on No. 2 to even the doubles matches at 1-1. 

At No. 1 doubles, Klevisar and Umeda battled into a tie breaker to secure the first point of the match for NSU, outlasting Bente Bierma and Leana Gomez 7-6 (7-5) 

In singles, Garcia recorded her sixth straight singles win to re-capture the Demons lead that dissipated after SLU won by default at No. 6. 

The triumph improves her to an 11-4 singles record on the season. 

At No. 5, Umeda pushed the lead to 3-1, topping Claudia Di Leonardo in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. 

After a Lady Lions (7-10, 0-4) victory at No. 2, Klevisar capped the win with a three-set victory at No. 1 (6-0, 4-6, 6-4) against Alba Perez. 

The Lady Demons return to play on April 6 at New Orleans and April 8 at Nicholls before returning home for one last regular season match against Texas A&M–Corpus Christi on April 13.
