NSU (8-5, 1-1) only played on two doubles courts and Lamar took advantage, winning the doubles point, which proved to be the difference in the Lamar win.
The Cardinals had to win one court to take the doubles point, and they did just that with a 6-1 win on No. 1 against Tjasa Klevisar and Honoka Umeda.
With NSU unable to compete at the No. 6 singles position, it found itself in a 2-0 hole early.
Umeda fell to Natalia Turczuk in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, to put the Cardinals in front 3-0.
The Lady Demons tried to fight their way back, starting with the top spot.
Klevisar made quick work of Leah Kuruvilla in the No. 1 position, as she topped Leah Kuruvilla in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, to cut it to 3-1.
But Lamar clinched the match at singles position No. 2, as Marika Mueller won in three sets against Sara Erenda. NSU won the first set 6-4, but Mueller fought back to win the final two, 6-3, 6-0, to earn the win for the Cardinals.
The Lady Demons won the final two matches to make it 4-3. At No. 3, Maria Farina dropped her first set against Megan Do 4-6, before winning the back two sets, 6-4, 6-3.
On No. 4, Sofi Garcia fell quickly to Elena Rubio in the first set, 2-6. In the second set, Garcia fought for the win with a 7-5 tiebreaker before winning a 10-8 supertiebreaker to capture another point for NSU.
The Lady Demons head to Lake Charles on Monday to face off against McNeese at 1 p.m.
NSU will be back home April 13, as they host Texas A&M–Corpus Christi in the last regular season match.
